Exciting Opportunity for a Paediatric Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Consultant to join our dedicated team of Community Paediatricians in a dynamic area of greater London. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, integrated care to children and families in partnership with the South West London Integrated Care Board and Achieving for Children.

The successful candidate will join a team of experienced professionals and will be based in our Ham clinic, Ashburnham Road, Ham (Richmond), TW10 7NF. You will work closely with our Community Paediatric team in Kingston to provide an integrated service, ensuring seamless care for our patients.

Main Responsibilities

The Child Development Service aims to provide timely, holistic assessments of child and family health needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing care plans to meet those needs. As a Paediatric Consultant, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership in our Neuro-disability service, working closely with other consultants to share responsibility and expertise.
  • Line managing and supervising an Associate Specialist, including appraisals, discipline, and allocation of work.
  • Sharing specialist knowledge through training and education for the workforce in children's services.
  • Ensuring effective risk management at team level, including accident/incident reporting, risk assessment, and control.
  • Participating in the provision of high-quality, resource-effective, child-centered clinical care and treatment, in accordance with clinical governance principles.
  • Providing leadership and educational support for career paediatric trainees, including comprehensive community training programs.
  • Liaising with other agencies and departments, such as Social Services, Education, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
  • Undertaking outreach clinics and medicals at a special school for children with physical and emotional difficulties.
  • Providing consultant pediatric input for neurodevelopmental clinics within a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • BLS training
  • MSc in Community Child Health
  • MD/PhD or other higher degree
  • Approved UK higher sub-specialist training in community child health for 2 years or proof of equivalence
  • Approved training in child protection/safeguarding at Level 3 of the Intercollegiate guidelines
  • Specific experience in LAC (6 months)
  • Specific experience in social communication (ADOS, ADI, DISCO)
  • Specific experience in Neurodisability
  • Previous experience in SEND
