Polaris Children's Services is a leading provider of social care services in the UK and overseas. We deliver statutory and non-statutory services to military communities, supporting service personnel, children, young people, and their families.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of Service to join our team in British Forces Cyprus (BFC). The successful candidate will lead our social work services in Cyprus, working closely with partner agencies and Command Personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the British Forces Social Work Service in Cyprus, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with UK statutory standards.
  • Manage staff, develop services, and build relationships with partner agencies and stakeholders.
  • Operate at a high level, in line with the Professional Capabilities Framework.
  • Lead integrated services that meet the needs of service personnel, children, and civilians.
  • Ensure contract compliance and report non-compliance to key stakeholders.
  • Review and mitigate risks related to contract compliance.
Requirements
  • Strategic level experience in social work management, with a strong understanding of the military environment.
  • Professional Social Work qualification (BA (Hons), DIP SW, CQSW, CSS) and registration with Social Work England or equivalent.
  • Post-qualifying award in Social Work and a management qualification (desirable).
  • 5 years' post-qualification experience in a social work management role, with experience in a broad range of social work roles.
  • Computer literacy skills and ability to write reports at a high level.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and child/adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Flexible working, including travel across Cyprus and the UK, with some weekend and evening working required.
  • Full driving license for manual cars and willingness to participate in the Out of Hours duty management rota.
