Job Description

**Job Summary**

Morson Talent is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our client's team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process safety engineering, with a focus on the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical/process safety engineering advice to onshore and offshore teams
  • Lead and participate in asset Barrier Model reviews, ensuring the standard of process safety risk assessments
  • Support the 10 elements of company SEMS, actively seeking areas for safety improvement
  • Participate in incident investigations, monitoring and reviewing technical/process safety processes
  • Provide oversight on activities impacting major accident hazards, supporting regulator visits and facilitating risk assessments
  • Develop and maintain a process safety reporting system, including relevant KPIs
  • Actively seek areas for safety engineering and process safety improvement, developing sustainable efficient solutions
  • Identify leading indicators related to process safety, acting to ensure timely intervention for the prevention of MAH
  • Provide Process Safety engineering-related information, advice, and support to all asset hubs
  • Responsible for continually monitoring performance standards through audit and review
  • Participate in Process Safety-related incident investigation, ensuring lessons are learned and effectively communicated
  • Monitor, maintain, review, and develop Process Safety processes and procedures
  • Support and participate in Process Safety audits, conducting Safety Critical Risk Assessment (SCRA) / Operational Risk Assessment (ORA) reviews
  • Prepare Technical Notes to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
  • Liaise with the ICP to resolve actions raised during periodic verification visits
  • Facilitate and coordinate HAZIDs, Risk Assessments, P&ID reviews, ALARP studies, and Major Accident Hazard Screening
  • Provide Process Safety support for the Management of Change process
  • Plan, participate, coordinate, and provide technical input for Safety Case Thorough Review and COMAH Safety Report reviews
  • Support regulator visits to sites with a focus on process safety

Requirements

  • Well-rounded work experience, with significant direct experience in either oil & gas operations or onshore support role closely linked to oil & gas operations
  • Previous experience as a technical safety professional in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory regime
  • Appreciation of Human Factors and the impact on Process Safety
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent and risk management qualification with considerable technical experience in a similar role
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in Safety and Reliability Engineering preferred
