Job Summary:

This role involves applying specialist design knowledge in mechanical aspects of Marine Systems to resolve complex design problems and issues. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of business processes and the ability to organise and coordinate engineering activity to achieve defined objectives while maintaining quality and cost.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Apply specialist design knowledge in mechanical aspects of Marine Systems to resolve complex design problems and issues.
  2. Organise and coordinate engineering activity to achieve defined objectives while maintaining quality and cost.
  3. Assist with the development of marine systems, providing design input to subcontractors and ensuring technical viability and safe operation of all marine and auxiliary systems.
  4. Manage and maintain piping systems, including calculations and investigations of pressure loss.
  5. Prepare technical reports and specifications, and participate in the development and maintenance of engineering processes and procedures.
  6. Carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations.
  7. Support the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids in area(s) of expertise.
  8. Assist the team through the L&D and performance management process, identifying training and development requirements and skill gaps.
Requirements:
  1. 4+ years of experience in auxiliary systems.
  2. Experience in a similar role and creating and managing piping systems.
  3. Good working knowledge of piping systems and calculation software (Fluid Flo, FORAN, AutoCAD).
  4. Ability to understand technical specifications and write technical reports.
  5. Chartered Engineer or working towards it, as a minimum should be Incorporated Engineer and Member of an appropriate Institute.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Engineering Degree qualified.
  2. Degree qualified in a Marine Engineering related discipline.
