Senior Contracts Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Contracts Advisor to join our team at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). As a key member of our Operations function, you will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining contractual templates and documentation, as well as assisting in negotiation of agreements with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice on contract terms, structure, and application to CISL staff, ensuring the use of appropriate contract templates and due diligence procedures.
- Generate and provide contract documents from CISL's internal templates, reviewing all contract documents received from clients, suppliers, and other partners.
- Advise on which terms and conditions require amendment and support the negotiation process, ensuring the best outcome for CISL.
- Liaise with the University's Legal Services office as required.
- Familiarity with interpreting and understanding detailed and complex contractual documentation.
- Competent in negotiating and drafting client contracts, NDAs, MOUs, grant agreements, contracts for services, and other agreements.
- Understanding of intellectual property and copyright, financial terms, and GDPR, and the interpretation of these in contract negotiations.
- Experience in assisting project teams in understanding how contractual provisions will apply in practical terms.
- Familiar with working collaboratively in a small team and able to prioritise work effectively.
- Excellent communication, inter-personal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to resolve issues and problems in a timely and flexible manner.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong administrative skills are imperative.
- Ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines on occasion.
- A customer-focused approach.
- 36 days annual leave (inc. bank holidays).
- In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will receive an additional 2.5% supplement to their pay.
- Working 36.5 hours per week on a hybrid working basis with at least 2 days in our award-winning Cambridge office. Part-time working considered on a 60-80% FTE basis.
