Alchemab is a brand new startup based in the UK, applying deep learning methods to antibody repertoire data for drug discovery. We are seeking a computational expert with AIRR-seq experience to build our core platform and perform data analysis.

The Role

This position involves working closely with the scientific team to establish standards and practices for our end-to-end data pipeline. The successful candidate will be involved in patient stratification, large-scale omics data analysis and visualisation, as well as target identification within a virtual team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of human disease datasets, including antibody/B cell receptor sequencing, RNAseq, and single-cell sequencing.
  • Develop predictive models for stratifying patient groups, evaluating antibody repertoires, and facilitating data-driven target discovery.
  • Support the team in building and maintaining a secure data infrastructure.
  • Advise on and assist in validating targets using in silico approaches (e.g., FGWAS, GWAS).
  • Collaborate with the Data Science research group and external partners in Oxford, Cambridge, and elsewhere.
  • Effectively communicate, interpret, summarise, and visualise data for diverse audiences.
  • Stay current on emerging discoveries and methodological advancements to enhance our platform.

We offer a highly competitive salary range of £60,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Requirements
  • A PhD (or exceptional masters-level degree) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience working with large-scale genomic or functional genomic datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R programming languages.
  • Strong expertise in integrating and analysing high-dimensional omics data relevant to immunology and therapeutics.
  • Background in building infrastructure for large-scale data analysis and storage.
  • A passion for collaborating with the Alchemab team to drive transformative change.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Expertise in working with AIRR-seq data.
  • A minimum of 5 years' industry experience.
  • A pre-existing network of external scientific contacts relevant to Alchemab's goals.
  • Evidence of strategic scientific direction contributions within a large group.
