Riverside Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at a large manufacturing site in Carlisle.

Job Overview

This role offers the opportunity to take on a highly visible and responsible position, providing full Technical Engineering support to the production function.

The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced manufacturing operations team, aiming to achieve factory goals by efficiently carrying out assigned tasks and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of engineering skills among Site Services Manager, ATMs, Apprentices, and Team Members through training, assessments, and mentoring.
  • Contribute to team action plans and continuous improvement activities as an engineering specialist.
  • Evaluate the mechanical and electrical integrity of equipment through planned maintenance inspections, reviewing frequencies, parts used, recommending alternative parts/vendors, and analyzing mean time between failure rates.
  • Manage contractors safely and within agreed timescales, overseeing plant overhauls and repairs, and completing stores requisitions for parts and contract services.
  • Monitor plant conditions, report defects, and supervise downtime, PPM conformance, engineering planning, use of SAP PM, and elements of the engineering budget to deliver consistent and improving plant reliability.
  • Presentation of performance matters, including trends and breakdown/fault data, ensuring prompt action on non-conformance issues.
  • Carry out safety checks on equipment in line with legislation and standard methodology, reporting plant performance using company systems and ensuring necessary actions are taken.
  • Consider and apply sustainability, waste minimization, and energy consumption principles where applicable.
Requirements:

This role is ideally suited for an electrically biased multi-skilled engineer with experience of generic engineering equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, electrical components, and ability to clearly understand engineering drawings, symbols, and notation.

A proven engineering background through formal qualification to at least City & Guilds level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical and/or electrical subject area, along with practical working experience, is essential.

You must possess excellent teamwork and communication skills, with confidence to empower and mentor colleagues to develop their engineering skills.

Work Patterns and Salary:

You will work a day shift Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30, with 30 minutes for lunch.

The salary for this role is £46.5k basic, paid for working day shifts.
