Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special needs school in Barnet. The successful candidate will have experience supporting young children or adults with special educational needs and be confident in managing challenging behaviour.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position for the academic year, with the opportunity to start ASAP. The school works in partnership with families to support students to develop their communication skills, be independent, and support their all-round mental, emotional, and physical development. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be based in a primary provision and work closely with a large team to support pupils with autism and learning difficulties needs.

Key Responsibilities:

* Supporting pupils with autism and learning difficulties needs on a 1:1 basis and within a class setting
* Managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils to become calm
* Engaging and proactively supporting pupils with alternative communication methods
* Working closely with the leadership team to develop training and development opportunities within the school

Requirements:

* Experience supporting young children or adults with special educational needs
* Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils to become calm
* Ability to engage and proactively support pupils with alternative communication methods
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
