Job Title: Proposals Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Proposals Engineer to join our team at MDE Consultants Ltd. As a Proposals Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the bid and tender processes for major enterprise-scale automation systems in various industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform technical estimating and bid proposal roles for Systems Integration (PLC, HMI, SCADA, and Telemetry) offerings.
  • Evaluate and deliver high-quality, accurate, and competitive technical proposals.
  • Liaise closely with clients and engineering teams throughout the bid process.
  • Carry out initial reviews of scope and technical requirements of tender enquiry packages.
  • Notify senior management teams and record significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks associated with enquiries.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive labour and material costings using estimating packages and costs sheets.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to obtain relevant technical information, clarify requirements, and agree proposed solutions.
  • Organise and participate in internal technical reviews of proposal costings.
  • Produce high-quality and professional technical proposal documents.
  • Attend site visits and review meetings with clients as required.
  • Ensure proposals are followed up at agreed intervals with clients and recorded in the CRM.
Requirements:
  • Technical knowledge of PLC control systems, HMI, and SCADA hardware selection, definition, project lifecycle, control system documentation, and programming.
  • Understanding of network design requirements for Control Systems.
  • Knowledge of Telemetry Systems as used within the Water Industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with clients.
  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering or equivalent.
  • Possessing or working towards a relevant engineering degree or equivalent.
