Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Forecasting Manager to join our Central Transport Network Department at Stobart. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the planning operation and ensuring the efficient management of network volumes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day planning operation, leveraging synergies across all business sectors in the Stobart network and third-party support.
  • Manage ad-hoc requests or short-lead-time requests from the commercial team, ad-hoc hauliers, and existing customers.
  • Through data analysis and regular communication, maintain a continuous grasp of the current state of play regarding planned and unplanned work.
  • Chair planning conference calls, reacting and planning to the current state of play.
  • Assist with the management of trailers, decom trailers, and units in line with business requirements.
  • Review Cognos reports, analyzing regional/divisional trends in relation to empty legs, trunked work, and other improvements to fleet utilization.
  • Ensure clear, timely, and consistent communication from the central forecast team, including promotional activity and notes captured during conference calls.
  • Manage and administer customer forecast sheets held within the central resource drive.
  • Monitor the national road network and highlight issues that may affect the business.
  • Monitor and record short- and medium-term UK weather forecasts and communicate any weather warnings as necessary.
  • Manage or assist in projects as directed by Senior Management.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Planning background required to support the network.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internal and external.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work well under pressure.
  • Extensive analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Confident decision-maker.
