About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join our team in Sheffield. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work with students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) to provide support and guidance in behaviour management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement behaviour management plans to promote positive behaviour and reduce challenging behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to behaviour support.
  • Provide individualised support to students with PMLD, including personal care, feeding, mobility, and medical needs.
  • Use alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, PECs, and sensory-based communication, to support students with complex needs.
  • Adapt activities to meet the sensory and educational needs of PMLD learners, including using sensory play, music, and interactive learning techniques.
  • Manage challenging behaviour positively and proactively, using strategies such as de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
Requirements
  • Relevant behaviour mentor qualifications or certifications.
  • A passion for health and social care, with a focus on supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals.
  • Enthusiasm for working with school students, with a commitment to promoting positive behaviour and supporting learning.
