Principal EC&I Engineer - Manchester

Vertical Recruitment Limited is partnering with a renowned Engineering Consultancy to find an experienced Principal EC&I Engineer to join their Manchester office.

This prestigious organisation boasts a team of over 1,000 professionals across the UK and Europe, delivering safe and sustainable design solutions across various sectors. As a key player in their thriving Control and Instrumentation department, you will lead medium-sized projects or manage specific work packages on larger assignments.

You will guide and mentor a talented team of engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative environment that consistently delivers high-quality results. Additionally, you'll support the Associates with the day-to-day management of the local Electrical team.

Building strong, long-term client relationships is essential to the company's ongoing success, so you'll be adept at cultivating rapport and trust with both internal and external stakeholders. Your exceptional organisational and communication skills will be crucial in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

The role may involve occasional site visits and travel across the UK to various project locations, providing you with a diverse and stimulating work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead medium-sized projects or manage specific work packages on larger assignments.
  2. Guide and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
  3. Support the Associates with the day-to-day management of the local Electrical team.
  4. Build strong, long-term client relationships.
  5. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Requirements:
  1. Significant experience in EC&I designs and overseeing the delivery of the full project lifecycle.
  2. Experience operating in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
  3. Knowledge of hazardous area equipment selection and installation design requirements.
  4. Actively working towards a professional registration (CEng/IEng).
  5. HNC minimum with suitable experience.
Desirable:
  1. Degree-qualified in Control and Instrument Engineering.
  2. Understanding pharmaceutical clean room equipment selection and installation design requirements.
  3. Knowledge of safety-related calculations and providing input to safety reviews - HAZOP, LOPA and SIL assessments.
