About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Magellan Aerospace Limited.

  • This is a full-time permanent contract position with a 34.5 hour working week.
  • The role involves working a 4-week rotation, with varying shifts including Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
  • The successful candidate will be based at our Blackpool Business Park facility, at Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RP.
  • This is a unionised site, working in partnership with Unite the Union.
  • Due to the nature of the work, this role is governed by ITAR, and restrictions may apply.
Key Responsibilities

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for the operation of machining cells, which may involve working on aluminium and/or titanium metal parts on 2, 4, and 5-axis machines.

  • Setting and operating machine tools to precision specifications.
  • Operating multiple machines at any given time, when safe to do so.
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors, managers, and colleagues.
  • Carrying out component changeovers for own machines and colleagues, as required.
  • De-burring components, including removal of sharp edges and cleaning of holes.
  • Routing work to the next operation, as per work instructions or team leader direction.
  • Resolving machining problems with minimal supervision.
  • Escalating unresolved problems to Shift Leader, Team Leader, or Manager, as required.
  • Providing accurate handover information to the next shift, detailing current status and any issues.
  • Ensuring all job card documentation is completed correctly before moving to the next operation.
  • Working in line with all company requirements, including following work-to lists and set up sheets.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment, including keeping the area free of spills.
  • Complying with all risk assessments and procedures, in line with the company Health and Safety policy, and reporting any incidents.
  • Actively contributing to the continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturing.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties, as required by management, to support the business.
