About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Lead/Head of Procurement to join our team at Wärtsilä Corporation. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for leading a small team of purchasers to achieve agreed targets and ensuring the quality of supply and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operational Procurement team at the Havant site.
  • Execute tactical purchasing strategies for both direct and indirect purchasing.
  • Manage team issues and escalate where necessary.
  • Develop and drive the growth of skills and knowledge within the procurement team.
  • Support the Supply Chain Manager in meeting supply chain KPIs and initiatives.
  • Ensure timely actioning of purchase requests and delivery of required service to internal customers.
  • Negotiate and place Purchase Orders, ensuring reporting and delivery promises are maintained by vendors.
  • Manage relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Consolidate and leverage direct and indirect spend, negotiate and manage Strategic Supply Agreements with key suppliers.
  • Review and negotiate payment terms.
  • Manage supplier performance to ensure output is in line with SLAs and KPIs.
  • Proactively manage the performance and development of the Purchasing Team.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a purchasing environment, with the ability to demonstrate best practice.
  • Strong manufacturing experience.
  • Previous SAP MRP experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven decision-making and organisational skills.
  • Ability to interrogate data to identify problems and action improvement activities.
