Ecologist Consultant

We are seeking a talented Ecologist / Ecow to contribute to our esteemed Ecology team at Assystem. Our team provides comprehensive ecological support for major commercial developments and infrastructure projects, encompassing surveys, assessments, site-based support, biodiversity net gain, and urban greening factor assessments.

This role requires a Graduate/Assistant Consultant Ecologist to support our client on the construction of High Speed 2. Key responsibilities include assessing, managing, and monitoring ecological constraints, as well as delivering concise ecological advice to clients to ensure ecological compliance during construction.

The successful candidate will assist the Consent team and work with sub-contractors in monitoring ecological compliance and undertaking inspections. They will also provide advice to site production teams regarding ecological constraints, conduct toolbox talks, and participate in watching briefs.

• 
  
• Ecological surveys prior to site clearance
  
• Site checks for protected and notable species
  
• Investigating and reporting on ecological incidents
  
• Liaising with the client's core environment & sustainability and project management teams
  
• Conducting proactive ecological risk management
  
• Delivering Toolbox Talks and other pertinent ecological information
  
• Attending ECoW meetings and undertaking any actions outlined from these sessions
  
• Supporting the production and delivery of toolbox talks to the production team and sub-contractors
  
• Analysing and interpreting ecological data
  
• Delivering concise weekly reporting
  
• Contributing to a culture of continual improvement of on-site ecological practice
  
• Contributing to wider business development activity
