Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in Guildford. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to young people with disabilities, enabling them to participate in play and leisure activities and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one, two-to-one, or three-to-one care, personal, medical, and intimate care, manual handling tasks, and positive behavior support for young people with disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with a 555 Support Worker in our buildings and out in the community with a young person to ensure their needs are met.
  • Support in delivering fun and inspiring play by setting up structured activities and encouraging free play amongst the groups.
  • Prepare yourself for the day by reading the children's information sheets and care plans, as well as completing administrative tasks when required to support the Manager and Deputy.
  • Ensure that the children and young people at 555 are supported physically and emotionally as required.
  • Communicate with confidence and willingness to build relationships with different stakeholders, including team members, children, and young people, as well as parents and carers.
  • Work as part of a team, including communication, sharing information, and passing on skills to the team, as well as physical teamwork such as setting up the site, cleaning at the end of the day, running activities, and supporting colleagues with physical tasks.
  • Support the team to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and assist in maintaining a clean, tidy, secure site.
  • Attend staff training to learn new skills and develop an understanding of good practice in play and leisure for disabled young people.
  • Report any concerns about a child's welfare or safety in accordance with Challengers' Safeguarding Policy and Procedure.
Requirements
  • An understanding and commitment to the development of high-quality, interesting, fun, and creative play opportunities for disabled children, even those with behavior that requires extra support.
  • Experience of working with children and young people and a desire to develop skills in supporting those with special educational needs.
  • An ability to demonstrate the skills necessary to motivate, encourage, organize, lead, and supervise a staff team in a professional manner in an informal environment.
  • Confidence in communicating with children, young people, and adults, including parents and carers, and an ability to build relationships with different stakeholders.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and an understanding of Challengers' Safeguarding Policy and Procedure.
