Electrical Systems Architect

At Certain Advantage, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Architect to join our team on a 6-month contract. The hourly rate for this position is £60 per hour.

The contract duration is 6 months, with the possibility of extension and long-term commitment thereafter.

The Electrical Systems Architect will be responsible for:

  • Specifying and determining system electrical requirements
  • Defining interface characteristics between subsystems and equipment
  • Designing power architecture, including power budget and power profiles
  • Developing data communication and processing architecture
  • Ensuring compliance with EMC, bonding, grounding, and screening requirements
  • Designing signal safety, including routing of safety-related signals
  • Supporting test and fault-finding activities during compatibility checks, risk reduction, system proving/qualification, and integration
  • Conducting design assessments and analysis
  • Working to defence and industry standards

Alternatively, the successful candidate may be required to act as the Equipment Manager (RMO) for specific electrical/electronic equipment, responsible for:

  • Project managing the equipment on behalf of the project during development, qualification, and manufacture
  • Owning the requirements on behalf of the project for the equipment
  • Producing Statements of Work for the associated design authority for the equipment
  • Creating and updating plans showing activities for the equipment
  • Managing internal and external design authorities for delivery of the equipment hardware, software, and deliverables to schedule, cost, quality, and performance
  • Holding regular progress reviews with the design authority for the equipment
  • Reviewing qualification verification evidence
  • Tracking and finding resolution to equipment non-compliance
  • Attending and supporting design reviews

Key technical experience required for this role includes:

  • Electrical and electronics
  • Interface definitions
  • Knowledge of defence and industry standards
  • Degree-level qualification in a related subject
  • Systems engineering
  • Writing reports
