Physiotherapy Assistant Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Physiotherapy Assistant to join our team at Nuffield Health Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospital. As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality clinical care to our patients, working closely with our registered physiotherapists and nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver effective clinical care under the supervision of our registered physiotherapists and nursing staff.
- Promote multi-disciplinary working with therapy, nursing teams, and fitness and wellbeing experts.
- Assist in the delivery of pre-operative arthroplasty education classes.
- Deliver rehabilitation programmes alongside the therapy team.
- Assist in safe discharge planning, including organizing social services input and home equipment if required.

- Involvement in the delivery of arthroplasty pre and rehabilitation classes.
- Be able to deliver or facilitate various exercise modalities from circuit training to strength training, while working within people's varying physical abilities.
- Engage in 1 to 1 conversations with rehab participants to offer coaching in terms of setting short-term and long-term goals, understanding restrictions, monitoring progress, understanding and offering emotional wellbeing support, and empowering self-directed activity.
- Delivery of Nuffield's joint pain programme.
- Ensure that all clinical records are accurately maintained and conform to all legal requirements.
- Complete administrative duties and telephone work to support the therapy and nursing teams to enable smooth and efficient care throughout the patient journey.
- Be responsible for reviewing and reporting stock level and supplies to ensure the clinical environment is fit for purpose.
- Assist with cleaning of Physiotherapy equipment and infection Prevention.
About You
To succeed as a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will need:
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care.
- Level 3 Qualified Personal Trainer or PT level 3 – CIMSPA or Physio in exercise referrals (desired but not essential).
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting, ideally in a healthcare support or therapy assistant role, or community-based physical activity programmes.
- Good communicator.
- Leadership & influencing skills.
- Motivational and engaging personality.
- Passion to make a difference.
- Strong organization skills, with ability to manage time and workload effectively.
- Excellent IT skills.
