Electrical Maintenance Specialist

About the Role:
Sofidel UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Lancaster. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of paper hygiene products, we are continuously striving to innovate and improve.
This position will sit within an established engineering team that thrives on continuous development of knowledge and practical application.
Working in our continental shift pattern of 2 days/2 nights 4 off, this role plays an important part of the day-to-day workings of the Paper making machines.
This role is well-suited to an Electrical Engineer with experience working in a heavy industry environment, happy to be hands on and always willing and eager to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and planned maintenance repairs of equipment, as well as emergency/unscheduled repairs of mill equipment during unplanned shutdowns
- Capable of repairing electrical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic & hydraulic devices
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment throughout the mill
- After onsite training and certification, safely use aerial lift equipment, fall protection, etc.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to electrical failure, report conditions, and recommend steps to be taken
- Perform preventative maintenance such as changing contacts, checking motors, according to instructions
- PLC knowledge will be an asset
- Install cables, conduit, for new equipment or replacing old one
- Reads and uses all types of electrical schematic wiring diagrams
- Perform or assist with operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements
- Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition
- Participate in a variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines
Requirements:
- Must be available to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends and holidays, overtime, and call-ins
- Paper Mill process experience a plus
- Experience in electro-mechanical maintenance background in a large-scale heavy industrial manufacturing environment
- Installation, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and distribution systems
- Blueprint/schematic reading, access and read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings
- Relevant qualification, NVQ, Diploma, Degree in Electrical Engineering
