About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Oncology Consultant to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, contributing to the development of clinical services, and participating in educational and research activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical services, including the Acute Oncology Service and the Assessment Unit.
  • Participate in the consultant 24-hour on-call rota, which is of low intensity.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop and maintain a job plan, including personal and professional objectives, in consultation with the Clinical Director.
  • Participate in educational and research activities, including teaching and supervising junior staff.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register with one of the following: CCT within 6 months of interview, CESR, or European Community Rights.
  • FRCR (UK) qualification.
  • Site specialist interest in lung cancer.
  • Experience of MDT decision making.
  • Experience of RT planning for lung cancer.
  • Experience of RT for palliative and emergency indications.
  • Independent prescribing of SACT for lung cancer.
  • Acute Oncology on-call experience (junior level, supervised).
  • Experience of recruitment to clinical trials.
  • Teaching experience.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Recent site specialist interest in lung cancer.
  • Acute Oncology Service experience (senior level).
  • Experience of lung SABR.
  • Attendance on teaching and/or clinical management course.
