Job Title: Innovative Engineering Programme Leader

Salary: Up to 55,000 per annum subject to skills and experience.

About the Role

The Regent College London is seeking a skilled Programme Leader to join our academic team. As a key postholder in our academic management structure, you will be responsible for the academic and line management of a specific programme and associated staff. This hybrid role involves delivering the programme using appropriate teaching and learning methods, ensuring the programme meets the associated learning, teaching and assessment requirements, and providing an excellent academic experience for students.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of the programme, including teaching hours associated with the role.
  • Ensure a positive academic student experience by monitoring, reviewing, and enhancing the teaching, learning, and assessment of the programme.
  • Oversee the management and delivery of assessments and marking, working with both internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Liaise with administrative staff to ensure the programme's smooth administration, including scheduling meetings of the board of study/programme team, staff-student committee, and module/programme board of examiners.
  • Lead board of study/programme team meetings and report on key programme issues to relevant colleagues.

Academic Management

You will provide line management for named Lecturers and Associate Lecturers, ensuring they receive a full academic and staff induction in accordance with college policies and procedures. You will also provide communication, guidance, and support to all staff under your line management responsibility.

Teaching, Learning, and Assessment

You will ensure that all aspects of the programme comply with the Academic Regulations for Taught Programmes, including maintaining current and relevant programme and module specifications. You will also oversee the programme VLE, liaise with administrative staff, and attend module and programme boards of examiners where applicable.

Student Support

You will facilitate student registration, co-ordinate the student induction process, and respond to student queries related to the programme. You will also monitor student participation and attendance, work with relevant colleagues as needed, and ensure the requirements of students with Student Support Plans are met.

Quality Assurance

You will produce the Annual Programme Monitoring and Enhancement report in conjunction with the programme team, lead Periodic Programme Review and Re-approval, and receive comments from external examiners. You will also monitor student progress, achievement, and retention, as well as suitability and availability of learning resources.

Scholarship

You will engage in scholarship activities to support teaching and continually update your knowledge, extending, transforming, and applying it to teaching and external activities.

Person Specification

We seek a candidate with:

  • Experience in academic programmes' management.
  • Experience of teaching, curriculum development, and quality management and enhancement in an HE environment.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review.
  • Evidence of a positive impact at discipline programme level beyond own teaching.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups.
  • Able to demonstrate independent and self-managing working styles.
  • Expected to work outside of normal office hours as required.
  • Expected to engage in activities associated with promotion, marketing, and public outreach of the subject area.
