Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Support Specialist to join our team at Prospero Teaching. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work with secondary age students within a SEN provision.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and possess strong behaviour management skills. As a SEND Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing tailored support to secondary age students with SEMH needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and deliver educational activities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to create a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating student progress, both academically and socially.
  • Facilitate small group sessions and one-to-one support to address individual needs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience as an HLTA, specifically within SEMH or SEN settings.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and strategies.
  • The ability to build rapport with secondary age students and adapt to their individual learning requirements.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • A relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent.
Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a salary of £130-£145 per annum. We offer a competitive package, including opportunities for ongoing professional development in the field of SEN education.
