Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Rural Surveyor to join our England Land Team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Land and Property Management:
    Carry out due diligence to identify, mitigate, and manage the legal, reputational, and financial aspects of rural property operations. Advise on agricultural matters and farming systems, agri-environment agreement work, granting leases and licences, negotiating wayleaves and easements.
  • Reserve Acquisition and Disposal Work:
    Appraise, negotiate, and conclude acquisitions to establish new reserves, extend existing reserves, and acquire property by purchase, lease, or management agreement. Appraise, advise, and deliver disposals of land, houses, offices, and properties that are surplus to operational need. Explore and negotiate ecosystem service sales, such as Biodiversity Net Gain and Carbon Credits.
  • Risk Management and Project Support:
    Support the implementation of systems to manage exposure to legal, reputational, and financial risk arising from land and property operations. Provide professional support and assist in producing internal codes of practice and guidance.
Requirements:
  • Chartered member of RICS (Rural) or another equivalent professional organisation.
  • Significant post-qualification knowledge and experience of estate management, land acquisition, and disposal work in the rural environment.
  • Experience of country-specific legislation relating to rural property.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of project management principles and their application.
  • Ability to lead multifunctional project teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for complex estate management issues.
  • Ability to make quick, pragmatic decisions based on sound analysis.
  • Ability to manage high-volume competing objectives and work alone or as part of a team.

The estimated salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
