Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Support Specialist to join our team at Shire Oak Academy. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher and SENDCo in delivering structured work programmes and adapting curriculum content for students with additional needs.
  • Support the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plans and monitor students' progress.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and contribute to lesson planning.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour in line with the Academy's behaviour management strategies.
  • Undertake basic administrative tasks to support the teacher.

Key Skills and Qualities:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs.
  • A proactive and caring attitude, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt the curriculum to meet individual needs and support students with a range of learning barriers.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and health and safety policies in an educational setting.
