Drive and Automation Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Drive and Automation Engineer to join our team at DS Smith's Kemsley Paper Mill. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the coordination and management of a successful drive maintenance program and support the technical development of your area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement asset management tools to ensure all assets, parts, and maintenance schedules are created and facilitated.
  • Manage the motor store and ensure spares are effectively maintained.
  • Design and deliver training programs for employees, including software training and equipment operation.
  • Record and store VSD drives and programmable smart motor control center devices software and parameters.
  • Manage asset database, obsolescence, and improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with asset teams to replace obsolete equipment.
  • Develop an asset performance monitoring system as part of our Industry 4.0 initiative.
  • Participate in upgrade projects and ensure systems and safety files are maintained.
  • Work with the project team on strategic safety development.

About You:

  • Experience in drive control and automation systems.
  • Understanding of AC and DC drives principles.
  • Electrical or multi-skilled engineering background.
  • A recognized Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Driven and self-motivated, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Accountable and willing to take ownership of your area of expertise.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify root causes.
