Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with autism, creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities, adapting materials and resources as needed.
  • Implement individualised strategies and interventions to support the child's academic progress and social development.
  • Support the child with sensory needs, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges, using positive behaviour management techniques.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher and SENCO to develop and implement personalized learning plans and targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of the child's progress and achievements, communicating regularly with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the child's support network.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based interventions.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the child and the school environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, adhering to school policies and procedures.
