Job Opportunity: Strategic Planning Officer

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Planning Officer to join our team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our Planning Service, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our Local Plan, ensuring that Wiltshire's infrastructure, housing, and community needs are met. You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver sustainable development and engage with communities to support appropriate and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the preparation, monitoring, and review of Development Plan Documents
  • Work with stakeholders to deliver sustainable development and engage with communities
  • Research and prepare reports on planning and industry issues relevant to Wiltshire
  • Develop and deliver policies and recommendations for project leads and teams
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A planning-related degree and higher qualification accredited by the RTPI
  • Post-qualification experience working on significant strategic planning policy matters and preparation of local plans
  • Experience in appearing as an expert witness at planning appeals or examination in public
