We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our team at Punch Pubs and Co. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and supporting our business process applications.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the full development cycle, including design, unit testing, user sign-off, documentation, training, and review.
- Monitor and report on the progress of developments, ensuring they meet agreed timelines with stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of standardised reporting and business process solutions, aligned with our Business and IT Strategy.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of applications, ensuring all solutions provide the intended benefits and value.
- Engage with Punch and broader business activities to ensure all work and solutions are fit for purpose.
- Identify and suggest improvements to current processes and practices to enhance solutions.
- Support individual and team efforts to contribute to technical projects, assisting with tasks as needed and learning from more experienced colleagues.
- Recognise opportunities for personal development, showing willingness to learn and grow in your role.
- Perform your role in a professional and efficient manner, striving to meet deadlines and contribute to team goals.

- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths is desirable.
- Proficient in email systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to write and debug code, preferably with some exposure to BPM software (e.g., Appian); familiarity with SQL, VBA, or object-oriented programming is a plus.
- Experience with SQL Server, including writing and executing simple queries, basic understanding of database schema, and performing elementary data manipulation.
- Understanding of application development principles, with the ability to apply fundamental concepts to assist in development tasks.
- Ability to perform basic data analysis and troubleshooting, supporting more senior team members in resolving straightforward issues.
- Awareness of coding standards and best practices, with an eagerness to learn and apply these in coding tasks.
- Familiarity with software testing and debugging techniques, with an understanding of their importance in maintaining code quality.
