Early Years Group Leader Job Description

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Group Leader to join our team. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of our young campers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stages in a fun and engaging way
  • Set up and maintain a welcoming and organized base room area
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for children
  • Deliver a variety of activity sessions as outlined in the timetable
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to achieve our goals
  • Act as a Key Worker and maintain accurate records of children's experiences
  • Provide active supervision and attention to children at all times
  • Plan and deliver activities that cater to the needs and interests of our campers
  • Encourage maximum participation and follow OFSTED guidelines
  • Take responsibility for the general welfare and safeguarding of children
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and resources
  • Facilitate children's development through Explore and Play sessions
Requirements:
  • Relevant childcare qualification or working towards one
  • Knowledge and experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to use initiative
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges in a childcare setting
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Attend Virtual Assessment Event and Online Training annually
  • Assist with pack up at the end of camp
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfils all Health and Safety obligations
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for children in your care
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme
  • Ensure children behave in a safe manner and respect their individual needs
  • Follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare
  • Be a positive role model and promote a healthy lifestyle
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to Senior Team or Designated Person
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions
  • Pending staff availability, deliver Skills Builder sessions
  • Support swimming sessions and bring swimwear
