About Worn Again Technologies:
We're a pioneering company dedicated to revolutionizing the textile industry by developing innovative recycling technologies. Our mission is to create a circular economy where resources are constantly in circulation, and waste is a thing of the past.
The Challenge:
Current recycling methods are woefully inadequate, with less than 1% of non-reusable materials being turned into new textiles. Meanwhile, demand for new resources continues to grow, exacerbating the problem of textile waste.
The Solution:
We're tackling this challenge head-on by developing advanced recycling technology that can separate, decontaminate, and extract polyester and cotton from non-reusable textiles and polyester packaging. Our goal is to make a significant impact on the industry and create a more sustainable future.
Role:
We're seeking a highly skilled Graduate Chemist to join our R&D team in central Nottingham. As a key member of our team, you'll play a pivotal role in progressing our goals and contributing to the development of our innovative recycling technology.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct a range of laboratory experiments to support the development of our recycling technology.
• Collaborate with our engineering colleagues to scale up our technology and ensure its successful implementation.
• Assist in producing high-quality risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and SOPs to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Manage project timelines and laboratory work using our company's project management systems.
• Contribute to laboratory upkeep, including health and safety, housekeeping, and lab consumable management.
Essential Criteria:
• A BSc in Chemistry or a related subject.
• Strong theoretical and practical skills in experimental design and implementation.
• A technically creative and rigorous approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to record detailed experimental notes and analyze data.
• A hands-on, practical approach to conducting laboratory experiments.
Desirable:
• An MSc/MPhil qualification in Chemistry or a related natural science.
• Practical experience of handling, synthesizing, and characterizing polymers.
• Experience of designing and implementing bespoke laboratory tests and equipment.
Location: Nottingham, United Kingdom
Reports to: R&D Laboratory Manager
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 dependent on experience
