Job Purpose: We are seeking an experienced principal technical hydrologist to join our team at Yorkshire Water. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise on hydrology, water resources modelling and climate change, and support the preparation of Annual Water Resource Management Plan reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hydrology expertise provision to support business decision-making.
  • Risk and priority understanding of key operational and strategic asset risks and priorities.
  • Annual report preparation support and reviews and audits by Ofwat and the EA and the preparation of the 5 yearly Water Resource Management Plan, as part of the AMP process.
  • Model calibration of Yorkshire Waters water resource planning base models for use in water resource planning and water production planning.
  • Hydrological analysis and modelling to support Water Framework Directive compliance.
  • Technical support to production planning team, compliance team, and others across the business, and to the Water resources modeller and planner.
  • Modelling input and data analysis to support applications for drought orders and permits, and advice on drought management.

Salary and Benefits:

You will receive a competitive salary of £72,500 per annum, company car lease/allowance scheme, annual incentive related bonus (up to 10% of annual salary), private health care, attractive pension scheme (up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a wellness day.

Working Arrangements:

The role is based at Bradford with a hybrid working arrangement.

Requirements:

  • A valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • A confident communicator with strong leadership and influencing skills and credibility in building up excellent stakeholder relationships with external organisations.
