About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Oncology Specialist to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our cancer services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the consultant 24-hour on-call rota, providing low-intensity on-call support to our patients and colleagues.
  • Contribute to outpatient and inpatient clinical care, including the Acute Oncology Service and the Assessment Unit.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with lung cancer, working closely with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the recruitment and supervision of junior staff, including medical trainees and advanced nurse practitioners.
  • Contribute to the development of our cancer services, including the design and implementation of new treatment protocols and clinical trials.
Requirements
  • Hold a GMC Specialist Register with one of the following: CCT within 6 months of interview, CESR, or European Community Rights.
  • Have a strong background in lung cancer, including experience of MDT decision making, RT planning, and independent prescribing of SACT.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively with patients, relatives, and staff.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of our patients and colleagues.
