Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Complex Care Worker. This role involves providing physical and emotional support to an individual with neurological disabilities and complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, including bathing and dressing.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers/hoisting, and positioning.
  • Administer medication and feeds through PEGJ.
  • Support and assist the chest physio plans, which includes oropharyngeal suctioning.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and follow established protocols.
  • Maintain daily hard and soft copy records.
  • Engage in social interactions and recreational activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, including light housekeeping duties of the immediate work area.
  • Accompany and assist parents with appointments, outings etc.
  • Communicate effectively with the individual, their family, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with disabled individuals with complex needs preferred, especially with teenagers or young people.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards caregiving.
  • Basic understanding of medical conditions and ability to follow care plans and instructions.
  • Flexibility to primarily work nights during the week and weekends, day shifts also available, and cover holidays/sickness as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with the individual and their family.
  • Integrity to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
  • Full driving licence and own transportation.
