LHR, a leading automotive brand in Leicestershire, is looking for an experienced Area Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.

About the Opportunity

This management role involves overseeing approximately 4-6 direct reports and offers a competitive salary of £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, along with an excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement design strategies for automotive components.
  • Mentor and support the growth of direct reports, including performance management.
  • Lead design projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Ensure projects meet time, cost, quality, and specification targets in line with design processes and KPIs.
  • Collaborate on comprehensive project plans.
  • Evaluate and escalate concerns, issues, and risks up through the reporting chain.

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

  • An MEng or BEng degree in an engineering-related subject.
  • A strong foundation in design engineering with a technical approach.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD packages, preferably Creo.
  • Previous experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment is beneficial.
  • Expertise in design for manufacture (DFM).
  • Ability to think strategically about design with a growth mindset.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
