About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team at Amazon Development Centre (Scotland) Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving highly scalable, robust, distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of complex software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Solve complex customer problems, favouring simple yet effective solutions.
  • Choose the right technology for the problem, considering factors such as scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Decompose work into manageable milestones and execute against those commitments.
  • Dive deep into technical issues, solving problems that may span different teams and disciplines.
  • Mentor other engineers, helping to develop their skills and ability to independently deliver.
About the Team

You will be joining a team of talented Software Engineers who own the systems responsible for instrumentation, measurement, and experimentation across our employee-facing products. In partnership with peers in other disciplines, including Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Scientists, you'll solve complex problems on behalf of our customers.

Requirements
  • Experience in professional software development, with a focus on distributed systems and scalability.
  • Experience programming with modern languages such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, and experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
