Multi Skilled Trade Operative Role

Cheltenham Borough Council is seeking a skilled and versatile Multi Skilled Trade Operative to join their Building Services Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient multi-trade repair, maintenance, and replacement service for all customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform a range of repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, and appliance reconnections.
  2. Supervise and train junior staff and apprentices when required.
  3. Manage vehicles, tools, and materials.
  4. Collaborate with other trades for efficient repairs.
  5. Ensure safety, safeguarding, and tailored service for vulnerable tenants.
  6. Continuously improve service and address skill gaps through training.
  7. Efficiency, quality workmanship, and teamwork are critical to the role.
  8. Occasional requirement to work at different locations and outside normal hours.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in multi-trade work.
  2. Awareness of Asbestos Regulations and manual handling experience.
  3. Competent in driving van-sized vehicles in urban areas.
  4. Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
  5. Strong team player with the ability to work well with the Repairs Manager and team.
  6. Proficient in using a PDA for job details, ordering materials, and work confirmations.
  7. Customer care-focused with effective communication skills.
  8. Problem-solving ability and a logical approach to tasks.
  9. Mature and adaptable to a diverse range of responsibilities.
  10. Desirable: Experience in social housing environment and aware of the risk of Sharps.
