ROLE SUMMARY

The Automation Systems Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and improving the automated systems within ENGINEERINGUK's facilities. This includes fault finding, process improvements, project delivery, and commissioning new equipment.

This is a key role in our highly skilled team, requiring high-quality results and a commitment to continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead and develop a team of engineers, becoming a subject matter expert within the team
  2. Develop code on various platforms, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems
  3. Solve complex issues across controls, fieldbus, and IT platforms, leveraging knowledge of process flow
  4. Analyse metrics to drive process optimisation, identifying areas for improvement
  5. Run and lead projects, advising vendors and steering project deliveries
  6. Provide technical guidance and support to teams, escalating critical issues as needed
  7. Maintain sound knowledge of machine safety regulations and safe working practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of NVQ L3 / HND/C or BSc in Electrical or Controls biased qualification
  • PLC programming experience with at least one platform (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
  • Proficiency in SQL, Linux, cloud technology, and IP networking
  • Ability to develop and modify scripts in languages like Java, Python, C, or Perl
  • Project management, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on results-driven delivery
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

ESTIMATED SALARY RANGE

£55,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience
