We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dementia Consultant to join our team at Dementia Support Australia. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering Australian Government funded dementia behaviour support services.
Key Responsibilities- Support families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand the impact of dementia on individuals.
- Equip carers and clinicians with the skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching, and development of resources.
- Develop reports that are contextualised to individual situations and people, and provide recommendations that are relationship-centred and informed by evidence-based best practice.
- Undertake a range of assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and their care network.
- Work in partnership with the broader Dementia Support Australia team to build capability across the home and aged care sectors.
- Contribute to research, projects, and programs, and work innovatively to meet the changing needs of the sector.
- Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
- Relevant qualifications in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health.
- Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
- High-level negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
