About the Role
As a Strategic Portfolio Monitoring Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our client's private equity / special situations investor focused on public-to-private opportunities in listed UK and European companies in the mid-market. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic environment and actively contribute to portfolio monitoring, as well as support on new investments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop an 'internal audit' function/framework for current and future portfolio investments under the guidance of the CFO.
  • Create and maintain centralised databases collating data from each portfolio company such as leverage, covenants, financial/operational performance (actual and forecast).
  • Provide analysis and insight to support the CEO on the monitoring of investments, including trend analysis, outlier analysis, performance versus budget and prior year, potential issues, etc.
  • Act as liaison between the CEO and the CFO of the portfolio companies.
  • Participate in portfolio company audit committee meetings, including with auditors.
  • Review and critique risk registers of each portfolio company.
  • Support the investment team on various matters: initial financial reviews, initial red flag analysis, summary of annual reports highlighting key financial information and significant accounting policies, cash generation, off-balance sheet issues.

Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar role within private equity or as a qualified accountant in corporate finance or transaction services.
  • Strong technical skills and ability to analyse financial trends.
  • Genuine interest in working with the portfolio.
  • Strong academic credentials from a leading university.
