Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Catering Assistant to join our team at East Lothian Council. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality catering and function service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the provision of a quality catering service, ensuring that all food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
  • Work collaboratively with the catering team to ensure that all legislative requirements, including health and safety, food hygiene, and hazard analysis, are met.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer queries and resolving any issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and knowledge in food preparation, presentation, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Hold an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2) or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have a strong understanding of health and safety protocols and food hygiene practices.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Have a flexible approach to work, including the ability to work varied shifts and adapt to changing circumstances.

Working Arrangements

This is a 38-week sessional post, working hours will be during school term time only. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Thursday, 08:00-11:30, and Friday, 09:15-11:15.
