Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team in the Newport area as a Building Services Professional. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fire risk assessment and fire door installation, with a strong understanding of fire safety regulations, fire-rated materials, and fire-stopping techniques.

This is a challenging role that requires carrying out fire risk-related carpentry tasks on new and existing structures, including schools, hospitals, residential, and commercial buildings. You will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining fire-rated doors to meet regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with BM Trada Q Mark Scheme and other relevant certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fire Door Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install, repair, and maintain fire-rated doors to meet regulatory standards.
    • Fit door closers, intumescent strips, smoke seals, and all necessary ironmongery.
  • Fire Stopping and Compartmentation:
    • Apply fire-stopping techniques using fire caulks, sealants, boards, sprays, and other materials.
    • Carry out compartmentation works, ensuring all fire-rated materials and seals meet fire safety regulations.
  • Inspection and Reporting:
    • Conduct regular inspections of fire doors and other fire-rated components.
    • Provide accurate and detailed reports on completed work, issues found, and recommendations for future improvements.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
    • Ensure all work complies with fire safety standards and is completed to a high quality.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, preferably with a focus on fire risk assessment or fire door installation.
  • Qualifications in fire safety (e.g., Passive Fire Protection NVQ Level 2, BM Trada certification) are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, fire-rated materials, and fire-stopping techniques.
  • Valid CSCS card,
  • Full UK driving license.
