About the Role:
The successful candidate will have proven experience in renewables development, design, construction, and commissioning, with strong technical expertise in PV, BESS, and related systems. As the primary technical coordinator, you will manage EPC contract negotiations, coordinate external technical advisers, and oversee equipment specification, installation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise on system and equipment, particularly PV, BESS, and related systems, collaborating closely with Grid and Transmission & Distribution engineers, Construction, and Project Management teams.
- EPC Contract Negotiations: Lead technical aspects of negotiations, including setting out principles, testing, and commissioning requirements, creating technical documentation.
- External Coordination: Coordinate external technical advisers to support project lender due diligence.
- Engineering Authority: Act as engineering authority for generation equipment and auxiliary systems, overseeing equipment specification, installation, and commissioning.
- Construction Inspections: Conduct inspections to ensure design adherence, best practices, and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Preliminary Design Efforts: Lead preliminary design efforts, including value engineering and optimising utility-scale BESS and PV systems.
- Procurement Support: Assist with procurement, including equipment specification, vendor selection, and contractor selection.
- Innovation Projects: Lead innovation projects exploring new topics related to PV modules, inverters, BESS, and other generation technologies.
Essential Requirements:
- Renewables Experience: Proven experience in renewables development, design, construction, and commissioning.
- EPC Contract Management: Several years' experience managing EPC contractors and Technical Advisors.
- Renewable Energy Stakeholder Collaboration: Experience collaborating with various renewable energy system stakeholders, investors, contractors, suppliers, understanding their value drivers and risk tolerances.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with PVsyst or similar yield assessment software and tools.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- Network: Broad network of industry contacts to bring insight and aid in problem-solving.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in data modelling/analysis.
- Team Management: Team management experience (strongly preferred).
Estimated Salary Range:£80,000 - £110,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.
