Job SummaryThis exciting opportunity has arisen for an ESOL Teacher SO1 to join our team. As a Community Education Specialist, you will design and deliver courses in English as a Second Language (ESOL) to disadvantaged and vulnerable Islington residents using effective assessment tools, innovative course and lesson planning, and appropriate teaching techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver ESOL courses in community settings, engaging learners using effective assessment tools and innovative teaching techniques.
- Complete and submit accurate administrative paperwork related to teaching, including enrolment forms, registers, completion and achievement data, course folders, course evaluations, and other statistical information.
- Work with learners to promote regular attendance, punctuality, and progression to further learning and employment.
- Teach ESOL on accredited and non-accredited programmes in neighbourhood learning centres, libraries, schools, children's centres, small voluntary sector organisations, or various sites in the community.
- Incorporate Digital Skills and Employability when designing and delivering ESOL courses.
- Engage LBI residents by using effective assessment tools, innovative course and lesson planning, and appropriate teaching techniques.
- Support Team Leaders and Curriculum Managers to develop ESOL curriculum areas, contributing to a curriculum that meets the needs of LBI residents and enables them to progress onto further education/training or employment.
- Substantial adult teaching experience in community or FE college settings.
- Substantial experience of working with hard-to-reach and vulnerable adult learners in the community and their families.
- A range of experiences teaching ESOL to learners in community settings.
- Proven experience of working in partnership with voluntary and community organisations.
- Ability to design and deliver effective courses at a range of levels to adults who have various barriers to learning.
- Ability to accurately assess the abilities and needs of adult learners and incorporate this into course planning, lesson planning, and delivery.
- Commitment to promoting and enabling learners' progression to further learning.
The salary for this position is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for professional development and career progression.
