Job Description

Safran Electrical & Power is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Design team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for aerospace applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust designs and work packages using Catia and NX CAD software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and support the definition of robust mechanical design solutions for R&D/R&T projects
  • Deliver engineering solutions that meet 'Design to Cost' and 'Design to Manufacture/Assembly' requirements
  • Produce and maintain CAD models, drawings, and parts lists that are compliant with all company standards
  • Produce and report on Design Assurance documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and Hand/Stress calculations

Requirements

  • A Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/work experience
  • Experience delivering work packages and the ability to guide other Engineers in a team
  • Understanding and experience of using Windchill, or similar PLM tool such as Teamcenter
  • Mechanical design experience with ideally with some exposure to rotating equipment such as shafts
  • An understanding of engineering materials and production methods – e.g. lay-ups, filament winding
  • Some exposure to composite applications – particularly shafts, tubes, or rotating parts
  • Substantial experience of using 2D & 3D CAD software – ideally Catia and NX
  • Experience of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Good working knowledge of MS Software i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate clearly, through written and verbal means, to all levels within the business and be able to interact easily with other Engineering teams
