Job Description

At Eurofins UK Food Testing, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Health and Safety to join our team. This is a hybrid working role, requiring flexibility to travel across the UK to our Eurofins sites dependent on business needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment across all our Food and Water Testing sites. This role will also involve collaboration with our Facilities department.

The Head of Health and Safety will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive health, safety, and facilities management strategies aligned with company goals. This will include determining the strategic direction and work priorities for the continuous improvement of our sites, leading the creation of policies, procedures, and programs to promote a safe and healthy work environment, and ensuring compliance with local, group, and UK-specific health, safety, and facility legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety management, with experience leading and managing health, safety, and facilities teams. They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to converse on all levels, and manage change processes. Self-motivation and a passion for health and safety are essential.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing emergency response plans
  • Overseeing audits and assessments
  • Investigating incidents and accidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
  • Developing and enforcing safety policies and training programs
  • Supporting the HR Director/HR Team with health and wellbeing initiatives to promote employee well-being
  • Developing a monthly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all sites and levels of staff
  • Advising line management on health, safety, quality, and environmental matters
  • Facilitating all forms of risk assessment
  • Monitoring the sites 'permit-to-work' system to ensure compliance with Company standards
  • Managing budgets for the health, safety, and facilities activity

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH certification or IOSH
  • Strong H&S/Facilities management knowledge
  • People management skills - proven experience of leading, managing, and coaching a H&S team
  • Experience leading and managing Health, Safety, and Facilities
  • Team management experience
  • Must be able to converse on all levels and manage change processes
  • Must be self-motivated and show a passion for health and safety
  • Flexible regarding working hours to support needs of the business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to travel to sites
