Job Purpose

Developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety:

Working closely with the Management Team to conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the workplace, and developing strategies to mitigate or eliminate these risks.

Providing training and education to employees on health, safety, quality, and environmental issues, as well as ensuring that all necessary safety equipment and procedures are in place.

Investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

Leading and coordinating safety committees, safety meetings, and safety-related activities.

Maintaining records of safety incidents, safety performance, and compliance with safety regulations.

Participating in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Communicating safety and environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

Achieving Industry-related 3rd party H&S Accreditation (likely ESSA).


Quality:

Working closely with the Management Team to conduct a top-to-bottom analysis of business activities, identifying areas for improvements based on observations, KPI feedback, and other available metrics.

Championing Continual Improvement projects.

Handling regulatory audits both internally and externally.

Developing and maintaining documentation related to Quality initiatives, such as inspection forms and audit records.

Achieving 3rd party Accreditation (likely ISO9001).


Environment:

Liaising with Operations team to assess environmental impact and integrate all necessary preventative measures and controls, with the aim of achieving industry-leading levels of environmental controls.

Ensuring legal compliance, including defined controls, procedures and the like, cross-checked against all relevant legislation.

Achieving Industry-related 3rd party Environmental Accreditation (likely ESSA).


Requirements:

Essential:

Experience in HSQE and operational safety issues in production or construction sectors.

Detailed knowledge of safety and operational issues.

Good understanding of the UK and European legislative framework and requirements.

Computer literacy.

Willingness to travel and to learn and open-minded for new technologies.

Experience of successful introduction of relevant systems and processes.

Ability to lead projects at all levels – from concept proposal & approval, to final roll-out and bedding-in.


Desirable:

NEBOSH Certificate.

IEMA Certificate.

Exposure to Events Industry.

Understanding of CDM Regulations.
