Job Title: Senior Technical Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Safety Specialist to join our team at Orion Group. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our projects and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough analysis, calculations, and engineering studies to produce technical safety deliverables in accordance with industry standards and international codes.
  • Develop and implement safety-related philosophies, risk assessments, and reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) studies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers to ensure technical standards and production schedules are met.
  • Review and approve documents and drawings in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on safety design requirements.
  • Coordinate and expedite discipline or multidisciplinary interfaces for assigned responsibilities.
  • Participate in the development of company standards and procedures.
  • Assist with manhour estimates and planning for proposals and projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical developments, standards, and methods.
  • Actively participate in technical safety reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL.
Requirements:
  • Significant knowledge of technical safety aspects within the energy business.
  • Extensive experience in Risk Identification and Assessment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering), accredited by a relevant chartered engineering institute (e.g., IChemE).
  • Ability to work effectively within a close team, particularly in Safety Systems and other engineering departments.
  • Chartered Engineer or certified process safety practitioner status is preferred.
