Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering Team Lead to join our client's team in Nairn. As a key member of the engineering department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing process.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position that requires shift work, including weekends on a 1-in-3 rotation. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day activities of the engineering team and provide support to the Engineering Manager as needed.

Your duties will include:
  • Ensuring compliance with legal obligations, safe working practices, and adhering to risk assessments, methods statements, work instructions, permits to work, and guidance from management.
  • Conducting weekly audits on staff working practices and ensuring adherence to controls in permits to work.
  • Maintaining effective communication between team members, including staff, management, supervisors, other shifts, and departments.
  • Communicating with production staff to ensure timely and efficient maintenance and breakdowns.
  • Taking responsibility for developing the skills of the team through skills charts, multi-skilling individuals, and setting up training programs.
  • Identifying and implementing new approaches in line with LEAN principles to improve downtime and reduce running costs.
  • Ensuring all work equipment is properly stored and reporting any damage or issues on the CMMS.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

* Unit downtime reduction
* Improved uptime performance of main production units
* Zero Health & Safety team issues
* Planned Dayshift, Backshift, and Weekend shift work programme emailed in advance to Engineering Manager for approval
* Identifying training needs of team members and producing a training plan

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A HNC/HND/C&G or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
  • Maintenance experience in hydraulic networks and pipework/hose assembly would be preferable but not essential.
  • The ability to work safely under pressure in a production environment.
  • Comfort with e-maintenance systems and computer proficiency.

Salary: The successful candidate can expect a salary of around £45,000 per annum, based on experience, including a non-contributory life assurance and pension scheme.
