About the Role

At Montcalm Collection, we are seeking a skilled and ambitious Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee our cleaning staff and ensure our facilities are clean, presentable, and welcoming to our guests. The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and the ability to motivate and manage a team of housekeepers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Executive Housekeeper in managing the housekeeping team, including room attendants, public area cleaners, and laundry staff.
  2. Supervise the housekeeping staff to ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are cleaned to the highest standards.
  3. Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms, corridors, and public areas to ensure compliance with the hotel's standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
  4. Coordinate and prioritize housekeeping tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal staffing levels.
  5. Lead, train, and motivate the housekeeping team to deliver exceptional service.
  6. Schedule and allocate tasks to housekeeping staff, ensuring that all rooms and outlets are covered.
  7. Ensure that where possible departure rooms are serviced first to enable a quick and efficient check in of all guests.
  8. Ensure the Room attendants have sufficient items and guest supplies for the day's work.
  9. Take responsibility for the Room Attendants appearance and grooming standards.
  10. Ensure the Rooms Attendant's work lists are signed before finishing duty.
  11. Provide feedback and performance evaluations, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
  12. Respond promptly to guest requests and complaints, ensuring their needs are met to the highest standards.
  13. Collaborate with the front office and other departments to ensure guest preferences and special requests are fulfilled.
  14. Liaise with Reception regarding rooms moves, extra departures and any other special requests.
  15. Monitor guest feedback and work with the team to continuously improve housekeeping services.
  16. Maintain and enforce the hotel's cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  17. Oversee the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  18. Ensure all service areas are left in the correct manner, and all the housekeeping items have been returned to the correct area.
  19. Clear all sections before finishing duty and ensure a correct handover is completed.
  20. To be responsible for the recording / issuing and safe keeping of all lost items.
  21. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and storage of chemicals.
  22. Address maintenance issues and report to the maintenance department.
  23. Monitor and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  24. Monitor and manage inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linen, and guest amenities.
  25. Place orders for necessary supplies and ensure timely restocking to avoid shortages.
  26. Conduct regular audits of linen and supply inventories.
  27. Train new employees on housekeeping procedures, safety protocols, and the use of cleaning equipment.
  28. Develop ongoing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the housekeeping team.
  29. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the department.
  30. Maintain accurate records of housekeeping activities, including room status reports and maintenance requests.
  31. Prepare reports for the Executive Housekeeper on housekeeping performance, guest satisfaction, and inventory usage.
  32. Responsible for taking necessary proactive steps to reduce/eliminate Colleague accidents.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or certification in hospitality management or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in housekeeping within a luxury hotel, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Good knowledge of the housekeeping management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a hospitality setting.

Working Conditions

  • Physical demands such as being on the feet for long periods of time and manual handling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks related to housekeeping duties.
