About the Role

The Financial Improvement Lead will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of our financial strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders to identify and address areas for improvement. You will lead the delivery of financial governance improvement programmes, ensuring that our financial processes and controls are robust and effective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial governance improvement programmes, working closely with senior stakeholders to identify and address areas for improvement.
  • Lead the delivery of financial strategy and planning initiatives, ensuring that our financial processes and controls are robust and effective.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working, driving financial growth and efficiency across our organisation.
  • Develop and maintain effective risk and issue management strategies, ensuring that our financial programmes and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior stakeholders on financial strategy and planning, ensuring that our financial decisions are informed and effective.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Financial Improvement Lead who possesses the following qualifications and experience:

  • Master's degree or equivalent management experience.
  • Project management qualification (PRINCE 2).
  • Continuing professional development and advanced management education.
  • Extensive relevant management experience in a large NHS body, at band 8a or higher or equivalent organisation.
  • A proven track record of delivery in a PMO environment and/or business/project planning.
  • Experience of working on process improvement projects within Finance.
  • Experience of leading and motivating teams to deliver to a high standard whilst under pressure.
  • Significant senior experience in managing major change programmes and projects within the NHS or comparable large organisation.
